The Rota Vicentina is set to become the next big thing in major walks. The Spanish Camino de Santiago and the French GR10 have been done to death and are, by all accounts, as crowded as the M25 on a Monday morning. But the newly opened Rota Vicentina is quiet and unspoiled. I haven't walked the whole thing. But very often I walk the 18km from Aljezur to Oedceixe. First leg is a tough slog up some steep hills, which I like. The second half is a lovely walk alongside the irrigation canals.
